A day of carnival delights

Oct 8, 2023

The Best Friends Carnival had fun packed around every corner.

Held at the Best Friends Learning Center daycare on Sunday, Oct. 8, the carnival brought out hundreds of people under a bubble-filled sky.

Children played their way through a selection of carnival games: they threw beanbags to pop balloons, used a mallet to send squishy frogs flying into a target area and rode an inflated mechanical cow.

Face painters and henna artists drew designs on children's faces and hands. Many of those who chose not to get face paint had markings of a different sort—stains from cotton candy or from bright blue snow cones.

The Wareham Police Department set up a booth in the center of the action, with one of the department's vehicles available for kids to explore. Officers suspended doughnuts in the air, attaching them to a bar with long lengths of ribbon, and handed out medals to the kids who could make their way through a doughnut the fastest.

Children also got the chance to ride trains through the parking lot and horses in an open space behind the daycare.
