Decas students show off costumes at Character Parade
Halloween falling on a weekday is not always a bad thing, especially when you can show up to school in costume and parade it around with friends and family watching.
For the students at John W. Decas Elementary School, the Character Parade celebration came at the end of the school day in celebration of Halloween on Oct. 31.
With no parking for cars left in the lot, parents and families resorted to parking on the street to get pictures of little ones dressed up in character. Some kids chose to dress up after a character in a book and others wore their Halloween costumes. The kindergarteners dressed up in classes as characters from the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"
The kids ran, smiled, and waved at everyone they knew while going through the parade.
"This was good, really good," said kindergarten teacher Michele Lefrancois.
It's not the first time the school has held the parade.
Terri and Carey Eldridge were at the parade last year, cheering on Abigail Aldridge, now in second grade.
"I just think that it's really cute that they're able to get all the kids together," said Carey, Abigail's mother. "I feel like a lot of schools don't do that anymore and [Decas] makes it a point to do that."
Terri, Abigail's grandmother, was impressed by what she saw too.
"There are a lot of good costumes and it's fun to watch," she said.
