Decorating the Onset Bluffs

Aug 4, 2010

The Bourne Wareham Art Association celebrated its 46th Annual Art Show and Sale last Saturday, decorating the Onset bluffs with original Fine Art, paintings in oils and acrylics, photos, jewelry, pottery, giclee prints and more.

Best in Show, as well as first place in the oils category was won by George Mitchell. Karen Powers won second-place honors in the category.

Kathy Irving was awarded first place in acrylic paints, while Betty Bealieu won top honors in the watercolor category.  William Sawyer and Rita Quinn earned second and third prizes, accordingly, and Kate Furler was awarded an honorable mention. Claudin Poyant won first prize in the digital art/ photography category, and Jack Dibenedetto won first prize in the Fine Art crafts division.  Mary Ross garnered second place in that category.

Art Association President Betty Bealieu reported that it was a good turnout for the event, and about the same number of artists as last year.  This year, however, the economy put a damper on sales, she said.
