Delores L. Barboza, 84

Delores L. Barboza, 84, of West Wareham, passed away September 19, peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends at Tobey Hospital.

She was born February 12, 1935 in Wareham, to the late Mary G. Barboza of West Wareham and the late William Barboza of Providence, RI.

Delores enjoyed fishing, crabbing, picking strawberries, blueberries, and apples.  She loved playing cards, bingo and Pokeno. She was a beautiful singer of Cape Verdean music.  She has a love for God and loved to read her bible. She loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  She has many friends, some of which have since passed on. She always had a smile, a kind word and always relied on the power of prayer.  She worked many years on the Cape in the housekeeping department. She has an enormous number of friends from her church, the Evangelical Zion Church located in West Wareham, shepherded by Pastor John King and his wife, Barbara.  She will be truly missed.

She is survived by Renita Pina of East Wareham, Robert Barboza of New Haven, CT, Shelley Barboza of Brockton, Wendall Barboza and his wife, Maryann of New Bedford, Tina Barboza also of New Bedford, Dawn Barboza of Wareham, Andrea McIlvaine and her husband Guy of Brockton.  Also survived by Michael Pina, Sr., Wanda Soto, and Anthony Walters.

She was a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, John Barboza, Sr. and her grandson, Jordan D. Pina.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 9 to 11 AM.  A funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be in Center Cemetery, Wareham. Following the interment, all are invited to brunch at the Dudley Brown V.F.W. Post, Gibbs Ball Park Road, Onset.
