Director of Community and Economic Development resigns
Chris Reilly, director of the town's Community and Economic Development Authority (CEDA), resigned last week.
Reilly's resignation is effective August 27, Town Administrator Mark Andrews wrote in an e-mail. Reilly confirmed that he had accepted a lateral position elsewhere, but said he could not comment further.
Funded by state grants, CEDA completes housing rehabilitation and community development projects. Reilly's resignation comes as the authority gears up to begin a five-year "Downtown Design" project, which will provide streetscape improvements for Wareham Village. Work is scheduled to begin next spring.
"I am drafting a transition plan with my Board, the CEDA Advisory Board, Staff, and the State's Department of Housing and Community Development," Andrews said. Andrews said he is working to ensure that the transition is smooth, with no delays or loss of grant funding as a result of the vacancy.
