Dog licenses, tags now available

Feb 11, 2021

Dog licenses and tags are now available.

Those who did not include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with their dog license application may pick up their dog’s tag at the Town Clerk’s office. To pick up a tag, call  508-291-3140 and a town employee will bring the tag to the door.

Dog license applications were included at the bottom of the town census.

To apply for a dog license, mail original copies of the dog’s current/valid rabies certificate and/or a neutered or spayed certificate, a check or money order in the appropriate amount made out to the Town of Wareham, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall, 54 Marion Rd., Wareham, MA 02571.

The Clerk’s office will register the dog and send paperwork and a tag back to the dog’s owner.

For dogs that are spayed or neutered, licenses cost $10 before March 31, $20 before May 31, and $30 before July 31. For dogs that are not spayed or neutered, licenses cost $13 before March 31, $23 before May 31, and $33 before July 31.

Seniors over the age of 70 are exempt from the annual license fee for one dog per household per year. Proof of age is required the first time a senior uses this exemption.

For more information, call the Town Clerk’s office at 508-291-3140.
