Donald Raymond Guay, 90
Donald Raymond Guay, 90, of Wareham, formerly of Taunton, died on May 24, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wareham after a brief illness. He was the husband of Carmen (Furtado) Guay and the son of the Laureat and Alice (Lemieux) Guay.
He was educated in the Taunton school system and graduated from Taunton High School in 1940. He served in the 677th Bomb Squadron in the Army Air Corps. He was then employed by the Ansonia Textile Mill where he worked until 1966. He then moved to Statesville, NC, where he continued to work in textiles until 1971 when he returned to Taunton. He then worked in the housekeeping department at the Taunton State Hospital from which he retired. Mr. Guay moved to Wareham in 2004.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing cards and solving puzzles. His greatest joy, however, came with spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Pamela (Guay) Clendenin and her husband Don of Statesville, NC and Jocelyn (Guay) LaBouliere and her husband Peter of Wareham; two grandsons, Mark Clendenin and wife Kennette of NC, and Daniel LaBouliere of Wareham; one great-grandson, Graham Clendenin of NC; his brothers, Francis and his wife Frances, Norbert and his wife Jeannette, Gerald, Maurice and his wife Barbara all of Taunton; his sister, Yvette Buffone of Franklin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Antonia (Guay) Menard and her husband Edgar and Sr. Lucille Guay, SUSC and his brother-in-law, Robert Buffone.
His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Wed., May 29, 2013 at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 – 7 PM at the funeral home.
