Dumpster fire brings emergency response to Cherry Street

Aug 11, 2024

The Wareham Fire Department closed down Cherry Street the morning of Sunday, Aug. 11 responding to a dumpster fire.

The Department got a call at 10:33 about a dump trailer which had caught on fire, said Wareham Fire Department Captain McIntosh. McIntosh said the homeowner had been doing a clean-out, but it is currently unclear how the fire started.

There were two buildings at risk of catching fire from the dumpster, but first responders were able to stop the fire before either building ignited, he said.

Trucks from the Wareham Fire Department, the Onset Fire Department and the Marion Fire Department were coiling up their hoses and preparing to leave the scene by around 12 p.m.
