East Wareham man arrested, charged with trafficking heroin

An East Wareham man was arrested on Monday for possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

Trooper Robert Plante of the Dartmouth Barracks was on patrol of Interstate 195 in Dartmouth Monday morning when he stopped a Audi A6 sedan for a motor vehicle violation.

After an investigation, Ralph D'agostino, 46, of East Wareham, was arrested when approximately 200 grams of off-white powder, believed to be heroin, was found in his possession.

Another passenger, identified as Catherine J. Murphy, 21, of Plymouth had an outstanding arrest warrant from Wareham District Court for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, using a motor vehicle without authority and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

D'Agostino and Murphy were transported to the Dartmouth Barracks for booking.

D'Agostino, who was arrested in 2009 and charged with possession of cocaine and intent to Distribute, was charged Monday with possession with intent to distribute a class A substance, trafficking heroin, possession of a class A substance, and conspiracy to violate drug laws. The driver was issued a civil citation for motor vehicle violations, as well as two other passengers were also each cited for a civil violation.

D'Agostino and Murphy were held pending their arraignment in New Bedford District Court on Monday morning.
