The Onset Bay Association recently received a $3,250 donation from Eastern Bank to support two of its events, Illumination Night and the Onset Blues Festival.

“We’ve been involved with the OBA for many years and we’re glad to support the community,” said Jennifer Haley, assistant branch manager at the Eastern Bank in Cranberry Plaza.

Onset Bay Association Treasurer Linda Hannon said that the $750 will be going to the Blues Festival, which is set for Saturday, Aug. 1 from noon to 9 p.m. this year.

Amy Hughes, who has run Illumination Night for more than 15 years, said that the $2,500 donated to her event will cover the cost of the 1,500 flares that adorn Lydia Island, Wickets Island, Onset Island and the Onset shoreline. She said Illumination Night is slated for Aug. 22 at 9 p.m.
