Edward Doucette, 77

Edward C. Doucette, 77, of Onset, died Feb. 16 at home surrounded by his loving wife and his three sons. He was the husband of 57 years of Joanne E. (McCassie) Doucette and the son of the late Edward C. Doucette, Sr. and Kathryn I. (Crowdle) Doucette.

He was born in Waltham and lived in Newton and Waltham before moving to Onset. He graduated from Waltham High School and Waltham Vocational school. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964.

Mr. Doucette was an Electronic Engineer for Foster-Miller, Inc. in Waltham for many years before retiring. He later worked at the Cranberry Region Visitors Center in Wareham.

He was a member of the Onset Fire Department, the VFW in Plymouth and the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Marlboro. He was a former Scout Master for Troop 211 in Waltham. He enjoyed sailing, reading, camping, backpacking and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne E. (McCassie) Doucette; three sons, Kenneth B. Doucette of Waltham, Timothy A. Doucette of Stratham, New Hampshire and Steven E. Doucette of Waltham; 12 grandchildren; one great grandson.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway.

His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday Feb. 21 from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, 141 Main St., Buzzards Bay.
