Incoming kindergarteners and their families will be able to explore Wareham Elementary School during the school’s kindergarten rally on Tuesday, June 6 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
However, they may discover that the elementary school has become a zoo!
In order to let new kindergarteners meet elementary school staff before they start in the fall, the elementary school is hosting a bilingual story walk based on the book “Why Would Elephants Rather Play Tag?” by Silvia Rocha.
Kindergartners-to-be will travel throughout the school, getting their “zoo pass” stamped. When they receive all of the stamps, they will enter them in a raffle for a chance to win 10 different prizes.
There will also be an ice cream social.
The kindergarten walk is sponsored by the Wareham Public Schools Office of Beyond School Time. It is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care’s Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant.
