Elizabeth P. Voss
Elizabeth P. (Matheson) Voss, 94, of Swift’s Beach, Wareham, died Friday, March 28, at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Herbert E. Voss, Sr.
Born in Dedham, she was the daughter of the late David & Pearl (Franklin) Matheson. A graduate of Melrose High School, she moved to Wareham in 1939.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Voss owned and operated the Beach Mart and Herbert Voss Real Estate in Swift’s Beach for nearly 60 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Wareham, Order of the Eastern Star Agawam Chapter No. 121 and member and former treasurer of the Swift’s Beach Improvement Association for over 70 years.
Mrs. Voss enjoyed planning events, gardening, playing the organ, bingo games, vacationing to Florida, playing “Skip-Bo” and helping people.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Amirault of Plymouth; two sons, Herbert E. Voss, Jr. of S. Easton and Robert D. Voss of Wareham; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, the late David Voss, her brother, the late David Matheson and her sister, the late Bessie Holmes.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, April 2, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Center Cemetery, Wareham. Relatives and friends may visit on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
