Ellen C. Walcek, 87

Ellen C. Walcek, 87, of Wareham and formerly of East Hartford and South Windsor Conn., passed away Friday Aug. 1 at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her family at her side. Mrs. Walcek was the wife of the late Edward J. Walcek who passed away in January 2013.

Mrs. Walcek was born in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of the late Thomas K. and Gertrude G. (Larkin) Cross. Over the years, she was active in many parent organizations and was a member of the historical societies in East Hartford, South Windsor and Wareham. A communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church, she also enjoyed antiques, day trips, early American history, and most especially, spending time with her family.

Mrs. Walcek is survived by her children; Susan Harrigan and her husband Tom of Bloomfield, Conn., Eileen Mann of Palm Beach Gardens Fla., Peter Walcek and his wife Jeanne of Dover, NH, Steven Walcek and his wife Sarah of Sanford, Fla., Mary Ellen Doherty and her husband Randy of Bridgewater, Richard Walcek and his wife Karen of Webster, John Walcek and his wife Lenta of Carver, and her “adopted daughters” Kathy Pappalardo and Nancy McHale of West Wareham, who became family because of their love and kindness.

She was the grandmother of; Maura Gualtiere, Megan Harrigan, Timothy Harrigan, Deb Baird, Andrew Mann, Thomas Mann, Gary Mann, Laurie Clark, Michael Walcek, Patrick Walcek, Maureen Walcek, Megan Walcek, Mac Lender, Joseph Doherty, Kate Doherty, Christin Walcek, Luke Walcek, Monica Walcek and Anna Walcek and the great grandmother of William and Nicholas Gualtiere and Olivia Clark.

Mrs. Walcek was the sister of the late Thomas and Edward Cross, Mary Kelly and Brenda Tracey. She was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would also like to thank the staff at Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care and kindness they showed Ellen in her final days.
