Evelyn B. (Cardoza) Walker, 94, of Wareham, died Oct. 7 in the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center – Forestview. She was the widow of the late William J. Walker and the daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Babbitt) Cardoza.

She was born in Wareham and lived there for most of her life. She graduated from Wareham High School.

Mrs. Walker worked as a manager at Lane Bryant in Boston for many years before retiring.

She was a member of the Goldenaires in Boston. She was “Ma Walker” to the G Clefs and the Band of Angels.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Tillman of Onset and Mary Mallory of Wareham; two aunts, Adelaide T. Beckett of Wareham and Jennie Babbitt of Connecticut; two daughters in law, Millicent Colbert of Boston and Marie Mendes of Plymouth; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.; nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late John Walker and Martin Mendes and sister of the late John and Fred Cardoza.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery.
