In favor of additional filling stations

Nov 24, 2014

To the Editor:

I agree with Mr. Chris Gabriel's support for additional filling stations which included the assurity of safety, availability in areas in which there are none, and addtional local tax revenue.

In addition, due to the vastly increased traffic due from Walmart in the area and to the Mall, there will be a greater need for a station(s) nearby to avoid long waiting lines.

Competition is good as it encourages better pricing, especially regarding the frequently exorbitant gas prices right off the highway in West Wareham; and I think it's sad that anyone wanting to start a new business such as this won't be able to as the other stations did. Who is to say existing ones are the best? There's a few in E. Wareham I wouldn't use by appearance and/or pricing.

It was OK to allow construction of the Wareham Crossing and Walmart, which unfortunately is certain to kill more small businesses here such as Aubuchon Hardware and some downtown businesses.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of America, and in our dying economy, one should be allowed to start any legal business as a means of self-employment and providing jobs as well.
