February activities at the Council on Aging

The Wareham Council on Aging hosts a variety of events and activities for seniors each month at the Multi Service Center, 48 Marion Rd. Here are some events to look forward to in February.

On February 5, watch “Green Book” at 1:30 p.m. This free event will include popcorn.

On February 12, get help dealing with clutter at 10 a.m. at a presentation of tips for getting organized.

On February 11, celebrate Valentine’s Day at an 11:30 a.m. luncheon. The menu will include baked ziti with meatballs or sweet sausage, garlic rolls, and chocolate fudge cake. Reservations are requested. Call 508-291-3100, ext. 6514, several days in advance. A donation of $2.50 is suggested.

On February 14, learn the art of flower arranging during Garden Therapy with the Wareham Garden Club from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The class and materials are free, but registration is required by February 8. Call 808-291-3130 to sign up.

The Council on Aging will be closed on February 17 for Presidents Day.

On February 25, a Mardi Gras luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m., featuring chicken with florentine sauce, summer spring vegetables with au gratin potatoes, a snowflake roll, and raspberry cookies.  Reservations are requested. Call 508-291-3100, ext. 6514, several days in advance. A donation of $2.50 is suggested.

The Council on Aging also hosts games throughout the month. On February 6, Name that Tune at 9 a.m. On February 13 and 27, play card and board games at 9:45 a.m., on February 20, play Wheel of Fortune at 9:45 a.m.

Beginning on February 7 and continuing through April 10, tax preparers will be available to provide free tax preparation for those with low to moderate incomes. To book an appointment, call the Council on Aging office at 508-291-3130.
