FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH WAREHAM
Question: What is fellowship?
Early in the morning every Tuesday, Stephen Chanona (aka “Chef Stephen”), who belongs to the First Congregational Church Wareham arrives at the Fellowship Hall of the Church to light the oven to cook ham, bacon, and sausage for the Fellowship Breakfast. Helping him are more volunteers from the church, Sandra Belson, Ruth Saunders and Norma McWilliams.
A bit later, the guests start to arrive. They order their breakfasts at the kitchen counter from Sandy and Ruth from a menu which on one day includes, in addition to the ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, French toast, pancakes, and hash browns. After grabbing a cup of coffee the guests sit down and enjoy each other’s company and conversation, and they are soon served with their food.
As the guests drift off to the rest of their day, Barbara Watson, yet another church volunteer, arrives. The kitchen cleanup is done with all the volunteers pitching in. Packages of sandwiches are made up for delivery to the Wareham Council on Aging for lunches for seniors. Then the volunteers visit with each other before leaving themselves, and planning to be back the next week.
The Fellowship Breakfast takes place every Tuesday morning from 7AM to 8AM at the Rowland Thacher Fellowship Hall, Gibbs Avenue, Wareham, MA. ALL ARE WELCOME.
