Filomena M. Neri, 96, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at home surrounded by family.
She is survived by her six children, Michele (Marie) of Clinton, Utah, Donna (Scot) Wells of West Point, Utah, Robert (Christine) of Sagamore Beach, Paul (Becky) of Bourne, Adelina Cox of Wareham and Ann Marie (Matthew) Pearle of Wareham; 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; and her 98-year-old brother, Thomas of Hingham. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years Joseph G. Neri, Jr., her parents, Michele and Adelina (Malzone) Apone, and her brothers Dominick, Nunzi, John and Salvatore.
Born in Boston, December 7, 1925, she lived most of her life in Wareham. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family and friends, making over 150 different blankets. She gave everyone joy and happiness with her cooking, jokes, smiles, and laughter. She kept everyone guessing and on their toes, not knowing who would get the crooked finger lecture next. She was active up until she was 95 and often enjoyed dancing and some Sambuca. She most enjoyed going to baseball games to watch her grandsons play. She was the Wareham Gateway Babe Ruth state champions’ official good luck charm.
Her funeral will be from Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Thurs., July 28, 2022 at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church, Main St., Buzzards Bay at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be Wed. from 5 - 8 PM at the funeral home.
