Finishing touches being made on Stonebridge pipe repair

Mar 30, 2011

Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on a new sewer pipeline on the Stonebridge in Onset.

Water Pollution Control Facility Director Guy Campinha said workers made the final connection in the new line on Tuesday and will install protective insulation around the pipe Wednesday.

A section of the 111 foot pipe ruptured on February 23, causing an “imminent danger” to public health, according to Town Administrator Mark Andrews. Evaluation of the situation revealed the entire pipe needed to be replaced, not just the exposed portion.

Repairs took a little long to complete than originally planed due to inclement weather. Thankfully, Campinha noted, the problem was found and corrected before summer months.
