Fire damages Weweantic Shores home

A fire in a home at 4 Tenth Ave. Saturday afternoon resulted in $100,000 in property damage but no injuries.

There was extensive fire damage to the kitchen, and smoke and heat damage to the rest of the home, according to the Wareham Fire Department.

According to Assistant Wareham Fire Chief Patrick Haskell, the department received a 911 call from the Wareham Police Department just after 1 p.m.

When crews arrived at the Weweantic Shores location, the one person inside the home had safely exited.

Three engines, one ladder truck and one truck from the Onset Fire Department worked to extinguish the blaze. Overall, 22 firefighters were on the scene.

Crews returned to the station shortly after 4 p.m.

Haskell said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
