Four-year-old lends a hand to town workers

Watch out Wareham — there’s a new landscaper in town, and he’s four years old.

While waiting for his bus to South Shore Early Education on Wednesday, Aug. 2, William Beijar decided to join some town workers with weed removal.

“He saw the guys working and he said, ‘Mommy can I get out to help?’” explained Kayla Cook, William’s mother.

Cook explained how William had never shown interest in gardening prior, but he was excited to help the team.

“He started peeling weeds out of the ground and picked up the shovel and was digging,” said Cook.

William has Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and issues with transitions, according to Cook. Assisting the town workers with gardening “made his day.”

“It really, really helped him and he was so proud of himself,” Cook said. “He absolutely loved it.”

William even went and helped the next day, too.
