Fourth of July brings annual antiques faire to town green

Jul 4, 2016

The Wareham Historical Society’s largest fundraiser is, fittingly, all about antiques.

Held Monday on Wareham’s Town Green, the 40th annual Fourth of July Antiques Faire featured 20 vendors and attracted a crowd from surrounding towns, said member Ellen Eldridge.

“All of the money raised here helps us maintain five historical buildings and museums in town the society owns,” she said. “It works out well that we’re able to preserve our history by having others purchase a piece of history.”

Not far from the fair, the Historical Society’s Fearing Tavern was open and costumed guides provided tours. Admission was free to those who bought tickets to the faire.

Old toys, glassware, paintings jewelry, tools and much more were on sale.
