Fourth of July Parade at Swifts Beach

Jul 4, 2011

The Swifts Beach Improvement Association hosted its annual Fourth of July parade on Monday, July 4. The participants of all ages decorated their cars, bikes, and wagons and headed down Pleasant Street and Swifts Beach Road for the half-mile parade.

Association President Ray Davies said the event is always a big hit with the neighbors. This year the parade drew more than 75 people.

"We come every year," said summer resident Linda Andrade, who attended the parade with her husband and two young children. "It's fun!"

Parade-goers agree that the highlight of the event  is seeing the unique American flag inspired designs other participants come up with. Prizes and ribbons were handed out to the paraders with the most creative decorations.

"The kids really put a lot into this," Davies said. "It's all about the children. The big ones and the little ones."
