Free activities at Gleason Family YMCA during Healthy Kids Day
The Gleason Family YMCA is partnering with Hiller Dodge and Dodge USA to celebrate Healthy Kids Day on April 28 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Gleason Family YMCA will receive $20 from Dodge for every adult that test drives a Dodge during its free community event. Proceeds from this event go directly towards providing memberships, programs and camp those in our community that cannot afford the Y experience on their own.
Activities throughout the afternoon include activities such as rock climbing, open swim, a bounce house, the Sherriff’s Department's K9 unit, face painting, balloon art, “Try It for Free” youth classes, a Scholastic Book sale and healthy snacks. All activates are free and open to the public.
Healthy Kids Day, a national initiative of the Y, aims to teach kids healthy habits and inspire a lifetime love of physical activity through active play.
Research shows that without access to activities that stimulate the mind and body, kids are more prone to gain weight and fall behind academically over the summer months.
“At the Gleason Y, we know that when the school year ends, many kids lose exposure to activities that keep them moving and learning. Healthy Kids Day will help parents begin thinking early about what their kids need to stay physically and intellectually active in the summer,” said Donna Maynard, Camp Director at the Gleason Family YMCA.
The Gleason Family YMCA is located at 33 Charge Pond Road in Wareham.
