Fruto "Tito" Chiclana, 89

Fruto "Tito" Chiclana, 89, of Wareham, formerly of Marion, died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Forestview Nursing Home in Wareham. He was the husband of the late Catherine Lopes and the late Firmina (Gamboa) Chiclana.

Born on September 17, 1920 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Julia Olivo Chiclana and Fruto Chiclana, Sr.

He was the eldest of four brothers and one sister, all deceased. Tito moved to New York City in the 1940s where he met his future wife. After marriage, the couple relocated to Marion to raise their family. As a result of that move, Tito was a resident of Marion for over 60 years and a retiree from the Marion DPW.

He was well known to the neighborhood for riding his bicycle, complete with transistor radio, which he did on a daily basis. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and taking care of his yard.

He is survived by his children, Nadir Chiclana and Zorida Johnson; his daughter-in-law, Susan Yuu-Chiclana; his grandchildren, Kim Everette-Alexander, Keesha Johnson, Roscoe Johnson, and Alexander Chiclana; and his two great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Taylor Alexander.

His funeral was from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home on Monday, June 28, and was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rita's Church, Marion. Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham. For directions and on-line guestbook visit: www.ccgfuneralhome.com
