Garden Club spring plant and bake sale
The Wareham Garden Club is holding its annual Spring Plant and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Olde Methodist Meeting House on 495 Main Street in Wareham.
Items available will be bird houses, hypertufa bee skeps, blueberry and raspberry bushes, perennials, annuals, tomato, asparagus and other veggies, herbs, begonias, johnny jump-ups, roses, hydrangeas and various selections from garden club members' personal gardens.
An assortment of home baked items prepared by the club’s bakers will also available for purchase.
Proceeds from all club events help fund community projects such as their monthly garden therapy at the Gateway Adult Center and Forestview Nursing Home, educational programs and a scholarship program that awards grants to an area senior who is planning to further their education with a focus on horticulture, agriculture, the environment, earth sciences, biology, or conservation.
The club's next major event will be a coastal tour of gardens in Wareham and Onset entitled "Gardens Ashore" on June 29 and 30. Advance tickets are available for $18 at Sail Away Boutique, Old Company Store, Edens Florist, Garden Shop and Gotta Have It.
