Gateway Babe Ruth boys bring home the hardware

The Gateway Babe Ruth 13-year-olds, lead by head coach Joe Lemiuex dominated the Bourne Battle at the Bridge Tournament by defeating Bourne, Martha's Vineyard and rolled over Dartmouth in the championship round to win their first tournament title in years.

The team finished runner-up in the Gateway Regional Tournament that decided the champion of the Cape and Islands.

The following Gateway players were on the all star team:

Colin Horton, Bryson Uhlman, Josh Nawoichik, Shawn Holmes and Miles Duarte from Wareham. Zac Papadakis, Sam Hartley Matteson, Noah Casado and Bob Ross from Old Rochester, Ben Maranhas, Hassan Vargas and Manny Molina from New Bedford and Cam Pendleton from Carver.

The Gateway 15-year-olds found similar tournament success by defeating Acushnet/Fairhaven to win the Bourne Battle at the Bridge and were also runner-up in the Gateway Regional Tournament.

The 15-year-old boys team was coached by Jim Kemlege and included:

Matt Tropeano, Derek Miller and Eric Singleton from Wareham, Marc Nelson, Matt Spooner, Joe Kemlege, Dan Roe and Tony Roberson from Carver, Will Hopkins and Hunter Smith from Old Rochester and Devin Chace and Jared Jesus from New Bedford.

Players from Acushnet, Fairhaven, Carver, New Bedford, Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester and Wareham can join the Gateway Babe Ruth League.
