Gateway Regional Fall Ball notches wins at tournaments

The season has ended at Gateway Regional Fall Ball and some teams have been dominate in several divisions.

The three Gateway teams in the 14 to 15 division earned first, second and third place in the regular season and Gateway Team Black won the Fall Classic regional tournament. The 12 to 13 year old Gateway teams faced great competition from Plymouth, Fairhaven, Lower Cape and the Vineyard. Gateway Green fell short losing to Lower Cape Blue in the tournament bracket.

Gateway Babe Ruth is looking to gain momentum going into the 2016 season after four Gateway Babe Ruth teams made the Babe Ruth regional playoffs and the 14 year old all-star team won a national district championship. The Gateway 13 all-stars won two out of four all-star summer tournaments, but lost to Plymouth 2-0 for the national district tournament.

Gateway Babe Ruth Charter is open for spring registrations and winter workouts for all players 13 to 16 years old from Acushnet, Fairhaven, Dartmouth, Marion, Mattapoisett, New Bedford, Rochester and Wareham. Players who are 16 by May 1 will be eligible to play in the Senior Babe Ruth league later in the year. The league seeks highly competitive players and will tryout all players wanting to compete in the South East Regional League. Winter workouts are being accepted at this time, space is limited.

The workouts will be on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. starting Jan. 12 for 10 weeks. Workouts will be at the Cage in Marion. For more information, email bamikef150@aol.com.
