Gateway Youth Hockey update
The Gateway American girls defeated the Plymouth team Friday, Jan. 4 with a score of 3-1. Leading the offense was Samantha Lescinskas with two goals, and Caitlyn Sweeney with one goal. Danielle Craig chipped in with two assists.
It was three for three on a busy day for the Mites 1 team Saturday, Jan.5. Players started off on the ice against the Falmouth Maroon team in Falmouth and trounced them 11-1.
The boys played a double-header against the Nantucket Whalers that afternoon, winning the first game 10-2, and the second game, 12-1.
The Gateway Ice Wolves started the New Year with a win over Braintree 6-0 Tuesday, Jan. 1, with Alex DeMarco earning the shutout.
The weekend started with a triple header. The Ice Wolves took the first game of the day beating Braintree 7-2. Bryan Gallagher scored four goals, Quirino DoCanto scored two.
The Ice Wolves then traveled to Martha's Vineyard for a double header, losing the first game 7-3.Quirino DoCanto had two goals, scoring his 100th point of the season. The Ice Wolves fell short in the second game, losing 4-3.
In the last game of a long week, the Ice Wolves came away with an 8-2 victory over Lower Cape to cap off the triple-header.
The Gateway Sharks fought hard, but fell to The Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins 3-1.
The Gateway Gladiators Pee Wee team was blanked by Nantucket, 8-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday, Jan. 6 at Hetland. In the second game, the Gladiators skated to a 2-2 tie in the second period, but ultimately lost 9-3.
It was a great start to a New Year as the Gateway Bantams defeated WHK on Tuesday, Jan. 1 by a score of 3-0. Goalies Tegan Andre and Chase Cunningham earned the shut out.
The middle school team lost a hard fought battle against the Taunton Tigers Friday, Jan. 4 at Raynham CDL. Taunton managed to tie it up at the end of the first, and take the lead in the second, with the game ending in a 3-2 loss for Wareham.
