George B. Smart of Warwick, formerly of Wareham, passed away at the Greenwood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Warwick, Rhode Island. George was the husband of the late Patricia J. (Bergstrom) Smart who passed away in 2016.

He was born in Brockton the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Peterson) Smart. He attended Brockton Public Schools and was a U.S. Air Force, Korea and Vietnam War veteran. He worked for many years as a police officer for the Department of Defense at the Otis Air Force Base, Cape Cod. He was also known as “Uppa” by his grandchildren. A motorcycle enthusiast, he also enjoyed puzzles, bingo and Foxwoods.

He is survived by his children: Mark Smart of Warwick, Lorinda and her husband Peter Bucchieri of Nevada and Kristine Prien of Fall River. He was the grandfather of Matthew Smart, Christopher Prien, Hailie Prien, Kyle Prien, Chelsea Smart, Nicholas Smart, Megan Smart, Madelyn Smart, Cally Bucchieri, Taylor Bucchieri and great grandfather of Rylan Smart and Briar Rose Prien. He was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and the father of the late Douglas Smart and brother of the late Charles W. Smart, Kenneth B. Smart, David C. Smart, and Richard R. Smart.
