BUZZARDS BAY – Gildo R. Cubellis, 90, of Buzzards Bay, died Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Shirley J. (Higgins) Cubellis.

Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Leonida and Speranza (Antignano) Cubellis. He moved to Massachusetts and after graduating from Bourne High School, he attended Gardner Hospital Nursing School where he met his wife, Shirley. He worked for 27 years in the X-Ray department at Tobey Hospital.

After his work at Tobey Hospital, Mr. Cubellis founded and served as owner and president of Affiliated Professional Services, a medical billing service in Wareham.

Mr. Cubellis was a longtime winter resident of Stuart, FL and was past exalted ruler of the Wareham – New Bedford Lodge of Elks in Wareham.

He is survived by his children, Michael Cubellis of Wethersfield, CT, Scott Cubellis of Stuart, FL, and Lisa Cubellis of Palm City, FL. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, the late Norma Cubellis, Antoinette Cubellis, Emilio Cubellis, Louise (Cubellis) Cattozzi, Sylvia (Cubellis) Embrescia, and Guido Cubellis.

His funeral will be from Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Wed., Dec. 6, 2023 at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church, 141 Main Street, Buzzards Bay at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
