Girls track dominating South Coast conference

The girls track and field team carried the momentum from indoor to outdoor track and have continued their winning ways, improving to 5-1-1 on the season after defeating Apponequet 87-48 on May 11.

Winning events for Wareham were Lexie Calvin in the shot put (31'9"), Caitlyn Berger in the discus (95'5"), Kia Fernandes in the 400 meter hurdles (82.5), Hunter Thatcher in the 100 meter dash (13.2), Maddy Koslowsky in the 100 meter hurdles (16.8), Paige Fehskens in the long jump (14'3.5") and the mile run (5:48.1), Maddie St. Julien in the triple jump (31'8") and 200 meter dash (26.9), and Kelley Peterson in the javelin (91'3.5") and 400 meter dash (63.9). Peterson, Koslowsky, Fernandes and Thatcher all qualified for the Division 4 Championship in the javelin, high jump (Koslowsky and Fernandes), shot put (Fernandes) and 100 meters respectively.

Emily Cummings won the high jump (5'1") at the meet. With a jump of 5' 2" at Wareham's May 5 win over Fairhaven , Cummings qualified for the New Balance National Championship in North Carolina in June.

The girls track team defeated Fairhaven 83-52. Winning events for Wareham  Kali Fernandes in the 800 meter run (2:41.6), Peterson in the 400m (65.7), St. Julien in the 200m (27.7), the team of Zariah Lima, St. Julien, Karyna Suarez and Hunter Thatcher in the 4x100 relay (54.3) and the team of Angela Pearle, Brett McSherry, Emma Wynne and Emily Cummings in the 4x400 relay (4:50.1) among others.

The team also rolled over Case on Thursday, May 8 79-39. Winning events for Wareham were Peterson in the javelin (85'5.25") and the 400 (66.4), St. Julien in the triple jump (31'3"), Cummings in the high jump (4'8"), Calvin in the shot put (29'10"), Berger in the discus (92'8"), Fehskens in the 800m (2:43.2), Kali Fernandes in the 200m (29.0) and the 4x100 relay team of Hunter Thatcher, Maddy Koslowsky, Karyna Suarez and Chayla Ewing (57.9).
