High School sports round-up
The Lady Vikings are now 12-0 after defeating Case High School on Tuesday Night with a score of 71-43 on the road. The team is guaranteed a spot at this year’s tournament. The girls will try to keep the winning streak going when they play Old Rochester Regional High School on Tuesday, Jan. 25. That game will be played in Rochester at 6:30 pm.
Wareham's boys varsity basketball game against Case High School was postponed on Tuesday night because of several small leaks in the roof of the Wareham High School Gym. That game is likely to be rescheduled for later in the week. The Vikings are now 7-4 after two straight losses against Fairhaven, 44-53, and Martha's Vineyard Regional High School, 63-77. The boys will back home Saturday, Jan. 22 for their 7:00 pm game against East Boston High School.
In other high school sports news, Wareham's varsity hockey team glided through a busy line-up this week. The Vikings got off to a rough start, losing to Old Rochester Regional/Fairhaven on Saturday, Jan. 15 with a score of 1-4. The team did pick-up a win on Monday night against New Bedford High School with a score of 7-6. On Tuesday, the team lost to Middleboro High School 4-2. The boys also scheduled to play Apponequet/Bishop Connolly on Wednesday. They will take on Southeastern Regional Technical High School on Friday, Jan. 21 at 8:30 pm at Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne.
The Wareham varsity track teams are also off and running. Coming off of four straight losses, the boys team will be hitting the pavement to run against Seekonk High School on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 6:30 pm. The varsity girls team will also play against Seekonk on Jan. 26 at 6:30 pm.
