Historical Society fair and antique show

Jun 30, 2010

Continuing an Independence Day tradition in Wareham, the Historical Society will host a fair and antiques show on the town green at Main Street and Gibbs Avenue from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 3.

The event, which will be held rain or shine, involves a lot more than antiques.

Packed onto the green will be a variety of antique vendors and their wares -- furniture, old photos and maps, curiosities and more.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Francis McNee from Marion Antiques will appraise up to three items for $5.

Across the street, in the First Congregational Church's Fellowship Hall, fiddlers young and old, amateur and professional, will compete on stage in a Fiddle Contest throughout the day. Admission to the fiddle concert is free. Inside, visitors can enjoy the music and purchase lunch and baked goods provided by members of the Historical Society.

Admission to the Antiques Fair is $3 and includes a tour of the Fearing Tavern.
