Hockey players: write an essay, possibly win $500

Jan 16, 2014

South Coast Sport Consignment is giving away a total of $1,000 in scholarships to a town’s hockey program as the prize in a youth hockey essay contest.

The two winners of this essay contest will receive a $500 scholarship payment to their town's youth hockey program to lower tuition.

The 200 to 300 word essay, written by the athletes, should be written on the writer’s experiences as a hockey player. It should cover the topic of what it means to be a teammate and what positive lessons they have learned from their youth hockey experience.

Applications can be received by calling, emailing or visiting South Coast Sport in person. Full details, rules and requirements can be obtained at that time.

In the five months the shop has been in business, it has made cash and equipment donations to Cape Cod Canal Youth Hockey, Plymouth Youth Hockey, Gateway Youth Hockey, South Coast Panthers Youth Hockey and the South Coast Buzzards Lacrosse programs.
