House bill could provide millions for environmental projects in Wareham
A bill put forward by State Sen. Marc R. Pacheco (D-Taunton) to make investments in parks, natural resources and energy efficiency in Massachusetts includes millions of dollars for projects in Wareham.
“This bill is a tremendous achievement for the Commonwealth in terms of the investments it makes in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land on which we walk and rely for food,” said Pacheco. “I am proud of the work our conference committee did to craft a plan that will bolster our tourism sector of the economy by enhancing our parks and waterways, and will continue cleaning up the environment through the investments it makes in clean energy resources.”
Among its statewide investments, the environmental bond bill includes bonding authorization for a number of projects in Wareham, including:
• $5 million to create a UMASS Cranberry Research Station in East Wareham.
• $7.2 million for the rehabilitation and improvements to the Mill Pond Dam.
• $1 million for repairs to the dam at Route 25.
• $110,000 for the eradication of invasive aquatic weed at Agawam Mill Pond.
