Ice cream, playtime and a firetruck at Minot Forest Elementary

Ice cream, playtime, and a firetruck: all rewards for good behavior for one class at Minot Forest Elementary School.
Since Sue Johnson's third graders earned the most "golden leaves" this year, they were able to enjoy 40 extra minutes of recess, that included roaming on a Wareham Fire Department firetruck and ice cream.
The celebration was put together by Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports, also known as PBIS.
Minot Forest uses golden leaves to award students who follow the three PBIS School Rules: respect, responsibility and kindness. Golden leaves are a way to reward students who behave positively. Students can receive leaves each day and collect them all week. Teachers, cafeteria workers, and other support staff can give students golden leaves if they see students being respectful, responsible and kind.
There is a goal that the classes try to reach every week and at the end of each week, the classes that reach the goal are put into a raffle. The winner gets 20 minutes of extra recess time. Those who don't win still get to show their accomplishment by posting a super leaf on a tree that's hung in each of their classrooms.
