James F. Cormier, 65, Boston University MET college professor
James F. Cormier, 65, of Wareham, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a short illness. He was the husband of Mary Beth (Govoni) Cormier.
Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late A. Clifford and Nora Theresa (Harrington) Cormier and stepson of the late Bernadine Cormier.
Jim received his B.S. from Boston University and his M.B.A. from Northeastern University. He was employed for many years with Digital Equipment Corporation and was a member of the start-up team for the Ayr, Scotland manufacturing plant. Jim also worked for IBM, training multinational companies in manufacturing software. While working at DEC and IBM, he also attained his goal of becoming a teacher and was an adjunct faculty member at Boston University Metropolitan (MET) College. In 2004, he was named a full faculty member to the Administrative Sciences Division at MET College, a position which he held until his death.
A previous resident of Marlboro, Jim was a member of the Marlboro Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors. After moving to Wareham in 2001, Jim found time to bring his experience to the Wareham FinCom.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Stephanie Cormier, of Shrewsbury and Dr. James H. Cormier, of Somerville; his dear friends, Joshua Gregoire, of Shrewsbury, and Dr. Kristen Vella, of Somerville; his sisters, Janice Malloch, and her husband Dean, of Lee, and Deborah Rustin, and her husband Matt, of Marlboro; his in-laws, Bill and Anne Ames, Paul and Gerry Govoni, and Christine Cormier, and many nieces, nephews, dear friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Robert C. Cormier.
His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Tuesday, October 19, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
