James Kean, 66

James R. Kean, 66, of Plymouth, died March 7, at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Buzzards Bay. He was the husband of the late Kathleen A. (Marobella) Kean and son of the late Donald and Evelyn (Durning) Kean.

He was born in Dorchester and lived in Avon for many years. After graduating from Avon High School he married his high school sweetheart Kathleen. Mr. Kean then went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 to 1972. He then lived in Katy, Texas and Wareham before moving to Plymouth.

Mr. Kean worked as an Iron Worker for Local 88 and Local 7. He was also a member of the Tunnel Worker’s Union.

After retiring Jimmy could be found gardening, fishing or playing pool but his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren grow.

Survivors include his son, Paul J. Kean and his wife, Julia of Plymouth; two grandsons, Caleb and Kelan Kean; his companion, Carol Marobella of Plymouth and her two children Crystal Rodriguez and Jamie Marobella and 6 grandchildren, two sisters, Donna Mullen of Raynham and Sharon Donovan and her boyfriend Jim Feliciano of New Bedford; two brothers, William “Billy” Kean and his wife Maureen of Stoughton and Larry Kean and his wife Patricia of Texas. He was the brother of the late Robert “Bobby” Kean. He is also survived by Susan Conley and her husband Steven of Plymouth, Janet Hogan and her husband Chris of Wareham, Barbara Pizziferri of Bridgewater, Michelle DeAngelis and her husband Joseph of Bridgewater and Claudia Kean of Avon, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

His graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
