Aug 7, 2019

Jamie McIntosh, Wareham’s Assistant Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources, finished his last official shift with the department on Monday, August 5. McIntosh will soon start his new job as Harbormaster for the town of Mattapoisett.

McIntosh grew up around the docks of Onset Harbor with his family. In 2002, he was hired as a Seasonal Deputy Harbormaster by Harbormaster Michael Parola. McIntosh continued his seasonal employment with the department until 2011 when he became the full-time Assistant Harbormaster.

Director of Natural Resources Garry Buckminster said he happy for McIntosh but noted his department would miss him.

“We would wish you fair winds and following seas but Mattapoisett Harbor can be a tad rough in that notorious Southwest Buzzards Bay wind so myself and the entire WDNR Crew wish you the absolute best in your new endeavor and you know we’re only a tidal flow away,” Buckminster said.

Mattapoisett Selectmen interviewed five candidates for the job before unanimously deciding to offer the job to McIntosh.

When he was offered the job, McIntosh said he was “excited for a new beginning,” and described the job opening as “an amazing opportunity that doesn’t come around too often, so you have to seize the opportunity.”
