JBA Basketball League ends regular season, prepares for playoffs

The Jason J. Andrade Memorial Summer Basketball League has wrapped up its regular season and is preparing for playoffs. Here is a look at the final results from the regular season.

Division 1 Girls

On July 19, Nana's Ice Cream Parlor Liberty beat BBL Builders Lynx 27-13.


The Lynx led early but the Liberty got their offense on track behind 10 points from Brianna Williams. Brianna Tavares had 7 points and Kiara Tomkinson scored 4 points. Shaelyn Andrews, Tiara Duarte and Jillian Mello each hit for 2 points.


Marquise Silva scored 6 points to lead the Lynx. Bailey Colon hit a three pointer. Madison Pinkston and Julia Michaels each had 2 points.


On July 20, Carolee's Comedy Corner Storm crushed the Bladez Hair Salon Sparks 24-1.


Erica Trask scored 10 points to lead the Storm. Sierra Roberge finished with 6 points. Isabella Roberge, Michaela McDuffy, Laurina Luppino, and Anne Marie Luppino each had 2 points in the game.


Paige Fehskens scored the foul shot for the Sparks.


Division 1 Boys

On July 19, Team Onujiogu Grizzlies narrowly defeated Marc Anthony's Hornets 43-41.


The Grizzlies got a huge game from Durell Barros, who finished with 25 points. Alberto Sanchez had 6 points. Mathieu Griggs and Josh Onujiogu scored 4 points apiece while John and Jovan Thomas each hit for 2 points.


Andrew White scored 12 points to lead the Hornets. Michael McAllister had 11 points and Xavier Foggie finished with 10 points. Derek Guerrier and Chris Perry had 4 points each.


The same day, J & M Realty Thunder beat the Cotter Machine Company Lakers 67- 61.


Michael Labonte had 25 points to lead the Thunder over the Lakers. Markiese Tomkinson scored 18 points and Quincy Aosa had 12 points. Jamahl Silva finished with 10 points and Trace Cole-Gordon had 2 points.


The Lakers fell short despite 14 points apiece from Mark Pierrot and Jack Zine. Darrion Santos and Jacob Freeman both finished with 13 points. Koby Andrade scored 5 points and Naquan Young had 2 points.


Division 2 Boys

On July 20 Salerno's Function Hall Eagles defeated Narrows Crossing Restaurant Huskies 33-25.


The Eagles got 10 points from Sonny Fernandes and 6 points each from Elijah McAllister and Seth Andrade to knock off the Huskies. Justin Lopes added 4 points and Joseph Silvia had 3 points. Desmond Nascimento and Courtney Depina finished the game with 2 points apiece.


Tanner Carlson's 10 points led the Huskies. Justin Davis had 6 points and Bryson Uhlman scored 4 points. Dominic Mello (3 points) and Brice Fernandes (2 points) also scored.


Also on July 20, the CDD Construction Friars defeated Andrade Construction Wildcats 50-33.


The Friars finished off their undefeated regular season behind 18 points from Damien Perry Jr. and 14 points from Nick Perry. Gaige Madera had 6 point and Jamual Sims finished with 4 points. Kyran Pina, Tyler Noe, John Todd and Desmond Powell each scored 2 points.


Legend Fernandes poured in 14 points and Jonah Depina had 10 points for the Wildcats. Davis McCain scored 5 points and Joshua Nawoichik finished with 4 points.

Playoffs begin on July 22. On the front court, the Narrows Crossing Huskies will take on Salerno's Function Hall Eagles at 6p.m. At 7p.m. The Andrade Construction Wildcats versus the CDD Construction Friars.

 

On the back court the Bladez Hair Salon Sparks will go up against Carolee's Comedy Corner Storm at 6p.m. At 7p.m.,  the BBL Builders Lynx take on Nana's Ice Cream Parlor Liberty.


Playoffs continue on Monday July 25. At 6p.m. Marc Anthony's Hornets at take on Team Onujiogu Grizzlies. The J & M Realty Thunder will go up against the Cotter Machine Lakers at 7p.m.

 

Championship games  begin Tuesday, July 26.
