Joanne J. (Batista) Silvia, 68, of Wareham, died August 17, 2010 in the Forestview Nursing Home, after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Robert F. Silvia Sr. and the daughter of Frank J. Batista and Mary (Medeiros-Batista) Coute.

She was born in Taunton and lived in Wareham for 37 years.

Mrs. Silvia assisted her husband with Wareham's Babe Ruth League for many years. She had also been a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Robert F. Silvia, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Middleborough, and Peter F. Silvia, of Wareham; a brother, Frank J. Batista, Jr., of Middleborough; three sisters, Patricia Westgate, of Taunton, her twin, Joyce Windle, of Taunton, and Elizabeth Enos, of Fall River; six grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Jesse, Erin, Meghan and Nicholas Silvia; a great-grandson, Jacob Silvia; several nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Lorraine Raposa, Joseph Coute and Michael Coute

Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte.28), Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
