Mar 19, 2013

John L. Rozen, 72, of Wareham, passed away March 15, with his family at his side. He is the husband of Patricia (Jacobsen) Rozen of Wareham.

John was born in Warwick, R.I., the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia (McDermott) Rozen. He attended Randolph public schools and graduated from Randolph High School.

He was a USMC veteran of the Vietnam War. He later worked for Butler Automatic Machine, a paper splicing company. He started as an assembler and retired as the plant manager. He took over his father’s hobby, Ross Fabrics, and grew it into a local textile distributorship.

John was a true and loving family man first, and enjoyed the neighborhood tournament horseshoe games. He was an avid Red Sox fan, New England sports fan, and loved to dig quahogs and clams.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Cecelia “Sissy” Nunzio of Carver, Maria "Re" Avery of Carver, John L. Rozen Jr. of Carver, Rick Rozen of Fall River, Corinne Blankenship of Carver, and Matthew Rozen of Hingham. He is the brother of Cecelia Hilchy of Fla., Albert Rozen of Wareham, and Rick Rozen of Situate. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is sadly missed by his faithful beagle, “Fives.” John is also the brother of the late Joseph and William Rozen.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his memorial service, to be held Thursday, March 28, at 9:30 a.m. at the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center Street, Wareham. Interment will follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Bennington Blvd., Bourne.
