Joseph E. Mattos, Sr. 89 – Services rescheduled

Joseph E. Mattos, Sr. 89, of Wareham, died Jan. 24, 2022, in Tobey Hospital. He was the loving husband of Dorothy M. (Graves) Mattos, they were married for 68 years.  He was the son of the late John and Louise (Vincent) Mattos.

He was born in Wareham and lived there all his life.  He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Mattos worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Tony Sousa Construction Company for many years before retiring.

He enjoyed fishing, animals and his dogs, joking with people, puttering around his yard, and target shooting.  Most of all he loved his wife and family.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. (Graves) Mattos; his children, Deborah Little and her husband, William of Cartersville, GA, Sandra Britto and her husband Julius of Rochester, Linda Nix and her husband Damon of Onset and Joseph Mattos, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Golden Valley, AZ; his brother, Dennis Mattos of Wareham; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

SERVICES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED 

Visiting hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

His funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
