The Jr. Vikings Middle School hockey team continued its winning streak with a 5-1 victory over Westwood on Friday, January 6, in Foxboro.

The first period action consisted of a goal by Stephen Toal, assisted by Sean Fagan. The Jr. Vikings tallied three goals in the second period. Jacob Tomasik had his first goal of the season, assisted by Matt St. John. Sean Fagan drilled one in with an assist from Stephen Toal. Then, it was Stephen Toal with a short-handed goal assisted by Sean Fagan. To end the second period, it was Jr. Vikings 4, Westwood 0.

In the third period, Westwood finally found the net, but Jr. Viking defenseman Brian Holmes answered with a direct hit slapshot into the net with four seconds left in the game.

Coach Howie Ladd is ecstatic with his team's improvement since the start of the season. The boys have "stepped up " their game to a new level in passing, fore-checking, back-checking and overall team unity, Ladd said.

Ladd promised the boys that if they had three wins in a row, he'd make them brownies. Team members agreed: the win was well worth it!
