Kids get crafty at Wareham Boys & Girls Club

Students got a real “hoot” out of a lesson at the Wareham Boys & Girls Club Thursday morning.
Volunteers from Mass Audubon, MassLIFT-Americorps and the Buzzards Bay Coalition taught roughly 30 kids a few things about owls before leading an arts and crafts session.
Using pine cones, construction paper, scissors, glue and some imagination, the kids put together their own owls.
Sherbie Worthen, a member of the club’s board of directors, said the activity was part of the club’s “Kukoo” project, a series of educational workshops designed to get kids excited about the local environment.
“It’s all about getting them excited and interested in the environment,” said Worthen. “And, they end up learning something while having some fun.”
