Knights of Columbus announce new Wareham Council
The state council of the Knights of Columbus presented a charter to the Fr. Francis E. Grogan Council 15280 of Wareham on March 6. Newly installed officers were also given their Jewels of Office.
The Knights of Columbus is a charitable organization founded in 1882 which provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service of the Catholic Church, the community, families, and young people. With1.8 million members, it is the world's largest Catholic lay organization.
International charitable partnerships include the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and the Global Wheelchair Mission, while National partnerships include Food for Families and Coats for Kids. Local partnerships abound and include the ability to work with other Knights organizations and their families.
The Knights of Columbus raised and distributed $154 million to charity and rendered 70 million hours of volunteer service in 2010.
