The Wareham council of the Knights of Columbus, Council 15280, will hold a basketball hoop shoot contest for kids ages nine to fourteen on Sunday, Jan. 28. Winners on the day will move on to further rounds of the contest as part of a nationwide Knights of Columbus competition. 

The hoop shoot will take place at the Gleason Family YMCA at 33 Charge Pond Road. The contest will start at 10 a.m. sharp, and participants are encouraged to arrive earlier (around 9:30 a.m.) to register. There is no fee for the competition. 

The contest is open to boys and girls, ages nine to fourteen, and is divided by age and by gender. Winners of each division will move on to districts, then to regionals and beyond; winners will be informed of the date and location of the next round. 

The Knights of Columbus have sponsored a national hoop-shoot competition since 1972.
