Learn how to dig for quahogs on Sept. 24
Learn how to harvest your own quahogs from Buzzards Bay on Sept. 24 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Onset Bay.
At this free event, sponsored by the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the Wareham Land Trust and the town of Wareham, participants will learn the basics of quahogging: what you need, how to do it and where to go. This is a catch-and-release event unless you have a Wareham shellfish permit.
Participants will travel on a boat from Onset Pier to Burgess Point for the event. Meet at Onset Pier. Rakes, peck baskets and some waders will be provided, but participants may bring their own equipment. Wear clothing and shoes that can get wet and sandy.
Pre-registration is required for this program. To sign up, visit www.savebuzzardsbay.org/events/learn-to-quahog-onset-bay-sep-24-2017/ or contact the Buzzards Bay Coalition at 508-999-6363 ext. 219.
